Types of Gutter Adaptors

Gutter to Gutter Adaptors used to connect two different gutter profiles or brands together. Common combinations include half round to square line, half round to ogee, half round to deepflow, and FloPlast to Osma or Marshall Tufflex. PVC to Cast Iron Gutter Adaptors designed to connect modern PVC guttering to an existing cast iron system. Ideal when replacing part of a cast iron run with PVC, or when adding a new extension to an older property. Available from FloPlast and Marshall Tufflex to suit the most common cast iron gutter sizes.

When Do You Need a Gutter Adaptor?

You need a gutter adaptor when you are replacing part of an existing guttering system with a different brand or profile, connecting a new build extension to the existing guttering on the original property, upgrading from a smaller profile to a larger one (for example half round to deepflow) on part of a run, joining PVC guttering to an existing cast iron or aluminium system, or connecting a rainwater downpipe to a soil or drainage pipe below ground.

Gutter Adaptors FAQ

Can I connect FloPlast guttering to Osma? Not directly, as the outlet positions and seal dimensions differ between brands. You will need a gutter adaptor specifically designed to bridge the two systems. We stock FloPlast to Osma adaptors for the most common profile combinations.

Can I connect PVC guttering to cast iron? Yes. FloPlast and Marshall Tufflex both manufacture PVC to cast iron gutter adaptors that allow you to connect modern PVC guttering to an existing cast iron system without removing the cast iron.

How do I know which gutter adaptor I need? You need to identify the brand, profile, and size of both gutter systems you are connecting. Check the markings on your existing fittings for the brand name and size. If you are unsure, call us on 03330 151860 with measurements and photos and we will help you identify the right adaptor.

Can I connect a downpipe to a drainage pipe? Yes. We stock universal rainwater adaptors such as the FloPlast D96 which connects 68mm round or 65mm square downpipes to 110mm underground drainage pipe.

Do gutter adaptors affect water flow? A correctly fitted gutter adaptor should not restrict water flow. The adaptor creates a smooth transition between the two systems. If you are moving from a smaller to a larger profile, flow will actually improve at the adaptor point.
