Double roof ladders are extending two section roof ladders that hook over the ridge tile, providing safe access on pitched roofs with longer spans or steeper pitches than a single roof ladder can cover. The two sections slide and lock to adjust the working length, making them more versatile than fixed single section models. Essential for working on larger roofs where the distance from eaves to ridge exceeds the length of a standard single roof ladder.
At Gutters.co.uk we stock double roof ladders for fast UK delivery.
Ridge Hook heavy duty hook at the top that flips over the ridge tile, anchoring the ladder securely to the roof.
Two Section Extending Design two interlocking sections that slide and lock to adjust the length. Covers a wider range of roof spans than a fixed single section.
Aluminium Construction lightweight for lifting onto the roof. Strong enough for working loads.
Wide Rungs flat or wide profile rungs for comfortable footing on a sloped surface.
Wheels some models include wheels at the ridge hook end for pushing the ladder up the roof surface before flipping the hook over.
Locking Mechanism secure locks between sections prevent accidental collapse while on the roof.
Choose a double roof ladder over a single when your roof has a long span from eaves to ridge that exceeds the length of a single section roof ladder, a steep pitch that requires a longer ladder to reach the ridge at a comfortable working angle, or when you need the versatility of an adjustable length for working on multiple roofs of different sizes. Common tasks include gutter repairs from above, tile replacement on large roofs, flashing and chimney work on steep pitches, and professional roofing work where one ladder needs to fit multiple job sites.
Single roof ladders are lighter and cheaper but fixed at one length. Double roof ladders are heavier but adjustable, covering a wider range of roof sizes. If you only work on one property and the single length covers your roof, a single is sufficient. If you work on multiple properties or have a particularly large or steep roof, a double gives you the flexibility you need.
Double Extension Ladders for getting from the ground to the eaves.
Triple Extension Ladders for reaching the eaves on taller buildings.
Single Roof Ladders fixed length roof ladders for standard pitched roofs.
How long does a double roof ladder extend to? Depends on the model. Common sizes extend from approximately 3m closed to 5m or more fully extended. Check the maximum extended length against the distance from your eaves to ridge.
Is a double roof ladder heavier than a single? Yes. The second section adds weight. However aluminium construction keeps it manageable for one person to lift onto the roof in most cases.
How do I get it onto the roof? Same method as a single. Lean the roof ladder against the wall next to your extension ladder with the hook end pointing down. Climb the extension ladder, pull the roof ladder up, slide it onto the roof surface, extend it to the required length, lock the sections, and push it up until the hook reaches and flips over the ridge.
Can I use a double roof ladder on any pitched roof? Suitable for standard pitched roofs with ridge tiles. Not suitable for flat roofs, thatched roofs, or roofs with fragile coverings without additional precautions.
Do I need a roof ladder for guttering work? Not usually. Most guttering installation and repair is done from an extension ladder leaning against the fascia. A roof ladder is only needed when you need to access the roof surface itself, for example to work on tiles above the gutter line or to access guttering from above where fascia access is blocked.
