Cast iron ogee guttering is available in two sizes. Victorian ogee is the standard decorative profile found on most period terraces and townhouses. Moulded Ogee (G46) is a wider, deeper profile designed for grander properties with larger roof areas. Moulded ogee offers increased flow capacity and a more imposing visual presence. Choose Victorian ogee for standard period properties and moulded ogee for larger detached houses, public buildings, and properties where a more substantial gutter is needed.

Cast aluminium weighs roughly a third of cast iron, never rusts, never needs painting, and carries a 40 year guarantee. Cast iron requires painting every 3 to 5 years and has no manufacturer guarantee. Cast Iron Victorian Ogee FAQ

Are ogee stop ends handed? Yes. Ogee stop ends come in left hand and right hand versions. When looking at the gutter from the front, a left hand stop end closes the left end and a right hand closes the right. Order carefully.

Is Victorian ogee required on my listed building? If the original guttering was Victorian ogee, the conservation officer will likely specify ogee replacement. Check whether they require genuine cast iron or accept cast aluminium.

Does it need painting? Yes. Supplied primed, must be painted before installation and repainted every 3 to 5 years.

How heavy is Victorian ogee? Heavier than standard half round due to the wider decorative profile. Two people recommended for installation. Fascia boards must be in excellent condition.

Can I use half round brackets with ogee? No. Victorian ogee requires specific ogee brackets designed for the wider profile shape.
