Cast iron beaded half round guttering is a traditional half round profile with a subtle decorative bead running along the front edge. This authentic period detail was standard on many Victorian and Edwardian cast iron installations and is often specified by conservation officers for heritage restorations where the original guttering had the bead feature. Supplied primed and ready for painting.

What Is the Bead Detail?
The bead is a small raised ridge running along the front lip of the gutter. It adds a subtle but distinctive decorative element that plain half round does not have. From ground level the bead is visible and adds authentic character to the roofline. Conservation officers may specifically require the beaded profile to match original guttering on a listed building. If the original was plain half round, standard half round would be specified instead.
Cast Iron vs Cast Aluminium Beaded Half Round
Alumasc Heritage cast aluminium beaded half round is designed as a direct replacement. Cast aluminium weighs roughly a third of cast iron, never rusts, never needs painting, and carries a 40 year guarantee. Cast iron requires painting every 3 to 5 years and has no manufacturer guarantee. If your local authority accepts cast aluminium, it is the more practical choice. Some conservation officers on listed buildings require genuine cast iron.
Other Cast Iron Profiles
112mm Half Round standard plain half round for most period properties.
Is beaded half round required on my listed building? Only if the original guttering had the bead detail. Check with your local conservation officer who will advise whether beaded or plain half round is required.
Can I use the same brackets as plain half round? Yes. Beaded half round uses the same brackets and fittings as standard plain half round. The only difference is the gutter profile itself.
Does it need painting? Yes. Supplied primed, must be painted before installation and repainted every 3 to 5 years to prevent rust.
How heavy is it? Similar weight to standard half round at approximately 8 to 10kg per 1.83m length. Two people recommended for installation.
Can I mix beaded and plain half round? Yes. You could use beaded on the front elevation for the decorative detail and plain half round on the rear. Both use the same brackets.
