The Alumasc Heritage cast aluminium square downpipe is a traditional angular profile drainage pipe used with all profiles in the Alumasc Heritage cast aluminium guttering range. Square downpipes were widely used on Victorian and Edwardian properties, particularly alongside ogee guttering, and the Heritage square pipe provides an authentic period replacement without the weight and maintenance of genuine cast iron. Carries the same 40 year guarantee as the gutter system and is available polyester powder coated in any RAL colour.

Alumasc Heritage Square Downpipe Components

When to Use Square Downpipe

Square vs Round Downpipe

Alumasc Heritage offers both square and round downpipes. There is no difference in performance — both carry water equally well. The choice is purely aesthetic and historical. If the original property had square downpipes, replace with square. If it had round, replace with round. If installing on a new build or extension, choose whichever suits the building style. Round is the more common choice on most period properties. Square was more typical on grander Victorian houses and public buildings.

Does the square downpipe fit all Alumasc Heritage gutter profiles? Yes. The square downpipe is compatible with all five Heritage gutter profiles: Half Round, Victorian Ogee, Moulded Ogee, Beaded Half Round, and Beaded Deep Run.

What colours is it available in? Any RAL colour. Most popular are black (RAL 9005) and anthracite grey (RAL 7016). The downpipe is powder coated to match the gutter.

Can I connect square downpipe to underground drainage? Use a drainage adaptor to connect to standard 110mm underground drainage pipe.

Can I mix square and round downpipe on the same property? Yes. You could use square on the front elevation to match the original appearance and round on the rear where it is less visible. Both are available in matching RAL colours.
